Jan Smeets Award Ceremony
Sunday November 27 Geleen, we celebrated the fact that Mr.. Pinkpop Jan Smeets, fifty years ago organized his first rock concert. One of the highlights of the evening was that Jan Smeets received the specialy designed "Jan Smeets Award", offered by Mojo Concerts in the person of Leon Ramakers.
This award, designed by the artist Lou Thissen from Limburg, is now presented annually at the Pinkpop press conference in Paradiso Amsterdam. The band, musician or establishment being most artistic or innovative according to Jan Smeets is entitled to the award. The award will be given by Mr.. Pinkpop himself. Along with the annual award there also is a cash prize of € 20,000 involved. The first presentation will take place on Wednesday February 29th, 2012 at Paradiso.

On October 20, 2011 an interview with Lou will be shown at Eredivisie Live. The interview will be about his paintings of Roda JC players.
Friday, October 21, 2011 the same interview will also be shown at L1 and will be broadcasted several times a day.
